Chapter 2. Starting a Project > Saving Projects Automatically

Saving Projects Automatically

Premiere can back up your project automatically, as frequently as you choose. Backup files are saved in a folder called Project-Archive inside the Premiere folder. Backup files use the original project name followed by a tilde and a number (project.ppj~2, project.ppj~3, and so on).

To set automatic save:

1.
Choose Edit > Preferences > Auto Save & Undo (Figure 2.35).

Figure 2.35. Choose Edit > Preferences > Auto Save & Undo.

The Auto Save & Undo panel of the Preferences dialog box opens.

2.
Check the Automatically Save Projects check box, and type the time interval at which you want Premiere to save the current project (Figure 2.36).

Figure 2.36. Check Automatically Save Projects, and type a number in the Automatically Save Every field to set the time interval of automatic saves.

3.
For Maximum Files to Archive, enter the number of copies of all projects that will be saved automatically in the Project-Archive folder.

After Premiere saves the number of copies that you specified, it deletes the oldest project to make room for the newest copy.

4.
For Maximum Project Versions, enter the number of versions of each project that you want Premiere to automatically save.

5.
Click OK to close the Preferences dialog box.
