Customizing Trim Mode

You can customize the look and function of trim mode to display additional frames before and after the edit, specify the number of frames trimmed by the multiple-frame trim button, and set large images for previews.

To customize trim mode:

1.
From the Monitor window’s pull-down menu, choose Monitor Window Options (Figure 7.49).

In the Trim Mode Options section of the dialog box, choose one of the following display options (Figure 7.50):

Figure 7.50. In the Monitor Window Options dialog box, choose a default display for trim view. Also, specify the number of frames trimmed by the multiple-frame trimming buttons and whether to view previews at maximum size.

  • The first option displays the out frame of the left clip and the in frame of the right clip.

  • The second option displays large edge frames as well as the frames before and after the edge frames.

  • The third option displays large edge frames as well as the first and fifth frames before and after the edge frames.

3.
For Large Frame Offset, enter the number of frames to be trimmed when you use the multiple-frame trim buttons.

By default, these buttons trim five frames at a time.

4.
To make trimming previews appear at the largest size that fits in the Monitor window, check Play Previews at Maximum Size.

Deselect this option to make trimming previews play at the frame size that you set in the program settings.

5.
Click OK to close the dialog box.

Trim mode reflects the settings that you specified (Figure 7.51).
