Using Preview Files

When you preview to disk (the default method), Premiere automatically renders the effect as a preview file. By default, Premiere creates a folder called Adobe Premiere Preview Files in the same location as the active project file (Figure 9.15). Within this main folder, Premiere stores each project’s preview files in separate subfolders, using the naming convention, projectname.tmp. You can determine the location of the Preview Files folder manually by specifying a scratch disk, the disk Premiere uses to store temporary files.
