Fading

The fade control gives you precise control of the audio levels, enabling you to adjust levels in increments as small as 1 percent. Starting with Premiere 6, you can also view your adjustments in terms of decibels (dB), not just percentages.

To create and use a fade handle:

1.
Position the pointer on the red fade line where you want to create a fade handle.

The pointer changes to a white finger icon with a red ± to indicate that you are about to add a fade handle (Figure 10.16).

2.
Click to create a fade handle.

A handle (red dot) appears on the fade line.

3.
Drag the fade handle up or down to change the level of the audio at that point or side to side to change the handle’s position (Figure 10.17).
