Chapter 10. Mixing Audio > Monitoring Channels in the Audio Mixer

Monitoring Channels in the Audio Mixer

Though mixing audio is about making all the tracks sound good together, one way to do this is to listen to them separately. Buttons at the top of each channel allow you to control which one you listen to, or monitor. If you don’t want to monitor a track, click the Mute button. Conversely, click the Solo button to monitor that track without the others. Monitor buttons don’t affect the levels—just whether you hear the audio during the mixing process.

To mute a track:

  • In the audio mixer, click the Mute button for the track you want to exclude from playback (Figure 10.49).

Figure 10.49. Clicking a channel’s Mute button excludes the corresponding audio track from playing back.

Deselect the Mute button to include the track’s audio in playback.
