Using Shy Tracks

When your project includes numerous tracks, conserving screen space can become an issue. When you don’t need to view the clips in a track all the time, you can mark the track as shy. You can hide shy tracks quickly when you don’t need them and show them again when you’re ready to work with them again. Whether they are hidden or visible, shy tracks are still included during playback and when you preview or output the program.

To mark tracks as shy:

  • -click (Mac) or -click (Windows) a video-monitor icon or audio-monitor icon to toggle the track setting between shy and not shy.

The monitor icons are white when the tracks are marked as shy (Figure 6.20).
