Customizing the Timeline

You can customize the Timeline window’s appearance to fit your needs or simply your tastes.

To change the icon size and track format:

1.
From the Timeline window’s pull-down menu, choose Timeline Window Options (Figure 6.1).

The Timeline Window Options dialog box appears.

Click the radio button next to the icon size that you want to use (Figure 6.2).

Choose small, medium, or large icons for clips in video tracks.

Select the radio button next to the track format that you want to use:

Icon view— displays an icon for each time unit of the current time scale of the timeline.

Heads and tails view— displays an icon for the first and last time units of a clip, with the name of the file between them (if the length of the clip allows).

Heads view— displays an icon for the first time unit of the clip, followed by the file name (if the length of the clip allows).

Name only view— displays only the name and no icons for clips in video tracks.

In the Audio section of the dialog box, choose the time unit at which audio waveforms are displayed in an expanded audio track (Figure 6.3).

Audio waveforms do not appear at time units greater than the unit you specify.

5.
Click OK to close the Timeline Window Options dialog box and apply the changes.
