Chapter 12. Creating Titles > Adding Drop Shadows

Adding Drop Shadows

A drop shadow can set an object apart from the background or impart a sense of depth. You can apply a drop shadow to any object.

To apply a shadow:

1.
Select an object to which you want to add a shadow (Figure 12.115).

Figure 12.115. Select an object to which you want to add a shadow.

2.
In the Object Style area of the Title Designer window, check Shadow.

3.
Set the shadow’s properties (Figure 12.116):

Figure 12.116. Check the Shadow option and choose the properties you want.

Color— use a color swatch to open a color picker or an eyedropper tool to sample a color from the drawing area

Opacity— 100% is completely opaque, and 0% is completely transparent

Angle— the direction, in degrees, from the object in which the shadow falls

Distance— how far, in pixels, the shadow falls from the object

Size— the shadow’s size; 0 creates a shadow the same size as the object that casts it

Spread— blurs the shadow; 0 creates a sharp-edged shadow

The shadow uses the settings you specified (Figure 12.117).
