Selecting Text

Whenever you want to edit or modify any of a text object’s attributes, you must first select all or part of the object.

To select text for editing:

1.
Do one of the following:

  • To select the entire text object, click the text with the selection tool (Figure 12.38).

  • To set an insertion point, double-click the text object with the selection tool (Figure 12.39).

  • To select a range of text, drag the insertion-point cursor (Figure 12.40).

Type to change the selected text or to insert text at the insertion point.

You can also adjust other attributes of selected text, such as font, size, or fill color. (See the following sections to find out more about adjusting text attributes.)

When you finish making changes to the text, select the selection tool.

Click an empty part of the drawing area to deselect the text, or select another object-creation tool.
