Using the Effects Workspace

As pointed out in the workflow outline back in Chapter 1 (“Premiere Basics”), you typically do your effects work late in the editing process. Usually, you’re already satisfied with the editing. So if you’re not viewing source clips, why use the typical editing workspace? Instead, optimize the workspace for effects editing. The preset Effects workspace displays a single program view in the Monitor window, which conveniently leaves enough extra space to accommodate the Effect Controls palette.

To set the workspace for effects editing:

  • Choose Window > Workspace > Effects (Figure 11.4).
