Searching for Items in the Timeline

Final Cut Pro's search engine is built to search for other items beyond clips and sequences. Use FCP's Find command to search the Timeline for clip names, marker text, and clip timecodes. You can search for items forward or backward. You can also search for and close gaps in all tracks in a sequence or in individual tracks.

Tip

  • This might be a good time to mention that when you place a clip in a sequence, even though the two clips may have the same name, the sequence clip is a separate version of the clip from the one that stays in the Browser. So if you are searching for the sequence version of a clip, you need to search in that sequence.
