You should pay attention to render quality levels for two important reasons: First, the render quality level you select for the final version of your project needs to produce rendered footage that looks as good as the rest of your program in your final distribution format and blends seamlessly with unprocessed footage. Second, strategic use of your draft render qualities can speed post-production in many ways. (For more information, see “Rendering Strategies” later in this chapter.)
Render quality settings are applied only to the rendered output of your project, so ensuring a match between processed and unprocessed footage is up to you. When you're preparing a show for final output, you should select the render quality that matches the sequence settings of your project.
