Chapter 14. FCP 3 and Mac OS X

Chapter 14. FCP 3 and Mac OS X

Final Cut Pro 3 for OS X is the first version of FCP to run on Apple's new operating system. FCP 3 is a dual-system release, meaning that it also runs on OS 9.2.2 and the Final Cut Pro team went to a lot of trouble to offer the same features in both versions. As a result, there are only a few significant differences between the OS 9 and OS X versions of FCP 3. This chapter covers those differences, but it is not an OS X tutorial. You'll learn the essentials of Final Cut Pro file management in OS X's multiuser environment, get tips on memory management in OS X, and learn about a few interface changes that affect your work in FCP.

If Final Cut Pro for OS X is your first voyage into this new operating system, you should get some basic OS X training before you boldly go. Apple's OS X Resources page is a good starting point: http://www.apple.com/macosx/resources.
