Deleting Media

The Make Files Offline feature is the right tool to use when you want to remove clips and their associated source media from your project. It's acceptable to delete media files outside Final Cut Pro by dragging them directly from your media drives to the Trash, but using the Make Files Offline feature accomplishes the same thing and keeps the file tracking in your FCP project up-to-date.

Make Files Offline offers three options. All the options start by making your selected clip or sequence offline. Making a clip offline breaks the link between that clip and its media file.
