Chapter 3. Shooting > How to Shoot

How to Shoot

Shooting video is about learning to see differently and to think in a nonlinear way. Because digital camcorders are so light and small, and because the LCD lets you see what you are shooting even with the camera away from your face, you can take shots from a range of positions that would make a Hollywood camera operator envious.

Shooting, then, is partly about body positions and camera positions that are comfortable and stable. Periodically, you will discover the odd position that is neither comfortable nor stable. Trust your own limits and try not to hurt yourself getting “the shot.”
