Dynamic Resolution

By default, After Effects employs interactive previewing, which means that it updates the image in the Composition window as you make changes. When RAM constraints prevent After Effects from updating the Composition window as quickly as you make changes, the program can reduce the image's resolution until it's able to display the image at the composition's resolution. This feature is known as dynamic resolution (Figure 8.10 and Figure 8.11). By making adjustments to the Preview preferences, you can limit the amount by which dynamic resolution degrades images.
