Chapter 8. Playback, Previews, and RAM > Setting the Region of Interest

Setting the Region of Interest

You can limit the portion of an image to be included in playback or previews by setting a region of interest. By restricting image area in previews, you decrease the RAM requirements for each frame and facilitate longer previews.

To set the region of interest:

1.
In a Comp, Layer, or Footage window, select the Region of Interest button (Figure 8.2).

Figure 8.2. Select the Region of Interest button.

2.
Draw a marquee in the image area to define the region of interest (Figure 8.3).

Figure 8.3. Draw a marquee in the image area to define the region of interest.

The area of the image included in playback and previews will be limited to the area within the region of interest (Figure 8.4).

Figure 8.4. The region of interest limits the image included in playback and previews. Click the Region of Interest button to toggle between the region you specified and the full composition image.

3.
To resize the region of interest, drag any of its corner handles.
