Setting the Work Area

To preview part of a composition, you must define a range of frames with the Work Area bar, an adjustable bar located above the time ruler in the Timeline menu (Figure 8.33). In After Effects 5, the entire area under the Work Area bar is highlighted, making it easy to identify which frames and layers are included in the work area. In principle, After Effects' Work Area bar works much like the one in Adobe Premiere; in practice, however, there are some minor differences. A miniature version of the Work Area bar in the navigator view of the Timeline window is for reference only.
