Exporting to SWF Format

Using After Effects' Export command, you can output your composition to a number of audio and video formats. This section, however, focuses on Macromedia's SWF format—the most recent addition to After Effects' export menu and a format that will be of particular interest to users creating animations for the Web.

For the uninitiated, SWF (often pronounced swif) stands for Shockwave Flash, the popular Flash Player format. Designed to deliver dynamic content over the Web's limited bandwidths, Flash animations include predominately vector-based graphics. Though they can include bitmapped images, such graphics significantly increase file size, thus limiting delivery speed.
