Sequencing and Overlapping Layers

Despite its powerful animation and compositing features—or perhaps because of them—After Effects has never been the most elegant program for simple editing. Starting with version 4, however, After Effects has made simple layer editing a little easier by including Sequence and Overlap features.

The Sequence command quickly places selected layers one after another in the time graph, seamlessly aligning their Out and In points so that the layers play back in an uninterrupted sequence (Figure 6.33).
