Chapter 6. Layer Editing > Performing a Slip Edit

Performing a Slip Edit

After Effects 5 introduces another editing feature common to nonlinear editing programs: slip edits.

When working with layers created from motion footage, you'll find that you often need to change a portion of video without changing its position or duration in the time ruler. Although you can do this by reopening the Layer window and setting new In and Out points, you must be careful to set edit points that result in the same duration. By using a slip edit, however, you can achieve the same result in a single step.
