Trimming Layers

Changing the In or Out points of a layer is known as trimming. Trimming a layer affects its duration; its timin g in the composition depends on the trimming method you choose.

As you trim a layer in the Timeline window, you also alter the time at which the layer starts or ends in the composition. This means you may have to shift the layer back to its original starting point after you trim it (Figure 6.9 and Figure 6.10). Although the Timeline window provides the most direct method of trimming, it can sometimes be difficult to use it with precision.
