Mastering Temporal Interpolation

Remember the examples of spatial interpolation methods earlier in this chapter? Now you can take the same examples and make their movement more convincing by adjusting their temporal interpolation. Go on to experiment with the temporal interpolation of nonspatial properties until you're comfortable with value, speed, and velocity graphs.

Linear Interpolation

A ball from a pong game ricocheting off a paddle could use linear temporal interpolation to maintain a constant speed through the keyframe (Figure 13.80). However, a billiard ball in a similar real-world situation would gradually lose speed.
