Importing Audio

You import audio-only files into an After Effects project just as you would any other file. When you use audio as a layer in a composition, you can adjust preview settings such as bit depth and sample rate. You can learn more about using audio in a composition in Chapter 7, and more about previewing audio in Chapter 8. Video footage that has audio can be imported as a single footage item. (See “Importing Motion Footage,” later in this chapter.)

To import audio:

1.
Choose File > Import > File (Figure 2.71).

The Import File dialog box appears.

Locate and select an audio-only file and click Import (Figure 2.72).

The audio file appears in the Project window as an audio footage item, with the appropriate file icon.
