Chapter 10. Effects Fundamentals > Disabling Effects Temporarily

Disabling Effects Temporarily

You can turn off effects temporarily without actually removing them from the layer. This is helpful when you want to see a single effect without other effects obscuring your view. Once you're satisfied with an effect's settings, you may want to disable it to speed up frame rendering.

To disable and enable individual effects:

  • In the Timeline window or the Effect Controls window, click the Effect icon next to the effect's name.

When the icon is visible, the effect is enabled; when the icon is hidden, the effect is disabled (Figure 10.25 and Figure 10.26).

Figure 10.25. In either the Timeline window or the Effect Controls window, clicking the Effect icon next to the effect name…

Figure 10.26. …toggles the icon off and disables the effect.
