About Flash Tracks

The Flash file format (.swf) is extremely popular on the Web. Flash files typically contain interactive, vector-based animations, often with audio. You can open a Flash file in QuickTime Player, creating a QuickTime movie with a Flash track.

The most common tool for creating Flash files is Macromedia Flash. Other programs for creating Flash files are available, however; one popular cross-platform tool is Adobe LiveMotion. Several tools that currently are Windows-only have specialized functions: DJJ Holding’s SwiSH and Goldshell FlaX create animated Flash text, and Electric Rain’s Swift 3D creates animated 3D objects in Flash format. One tool, Wildform Flix, converts a QuickTime movie to a Flash file. This program is useful if you fear that people will not have QuickTime installed but will have the Flash browser plug-in installed.
