Chapter 13. Sound Tracks and MPEG Audio Tracks

Chapter 13. Sound Tracks and MPEG Audio Tracks

QuickTime sound tracks are composed of digitized audio. Like video tracks, sound tracks have associated properties—some of which you have a certain amount of control over.

In this chapter, we’ll introduce the basic characteristics of digital sound, looking at the dialog box from which you can access these properties and the Properties panel in which you determine what they are. Then we’ll look at various methods for creating sound tracks, including importing MP3 files. (In addition, we’ll cover importing MPEG Layer I and II audio files to create MPEG audio tracks.)

Finally, we’ll show you how you can use QuickTime Player as a sound-conversion utility.
