Chapter 4. QuickTime VR in the Player > Manipulating Objects in Object Movies

Manipulating Objects in Object Movies

Object movies comprise a sequence of views—usually of a single object in different rotational positions.

To manipulate an object in an object movie:

1.
Click inside the movie window.

The pointer changes from an open hand (Figure 4.3) to a clenched fist (Figure 4.4) to indicate that you’ve grabbed the object.

2.
Continuing to hold down the mouse button, drag in the direction in which you want to rotate the object.

You can drag beyond the movie window’s border to continue rotating the object. An easier method may be to release the mouse button and then click and drag again in the movie window.

If you’ve already rotated the object as far as it can go in a particular direction, the pointer, when near the window border, changes to an arrow with a bar (Figure 4.5).

Some object movies provide views of an object in a single vertical position, so your view doesn’t change if you drag up or down.
