Chapter 15. Delivery Basics > Saving Movies for Distribution

Saving Movies for Distribution

In some cases, all you need to do to prepare a movie for distribution is save it. (We describe saving in Chapter 6.) In general, if your movie’s data rate is as low as or lower than your target bandwidth—as is often the case with text, sprite, 3D, and music-track movies—and you are not preparing the movie for RTSP streaming, you need only to save it.

Whether you’re working on a Mac OS or Windows computer, as long as you use the Save As command, QuickTime 5 automatically saves files so that they are playable on both platforms and are fast start (the format used for HTTP Web delivery, which we describe in Chapter 16).
