Searching a Text Track

You can navigate movies with text tracks by searching for specific text strings. This technique is particularly useful for long movies that don’t include significant visual changes—lecture videos or audio-only movies, for example.

To search for text in a text track:

1.
From the Edit menu, choose Find (Figure 3.37).

Figure 3.37. Choose Edit > Find.

2.
In the Find dialog box, type the text string you want to locate, and click Find (Figure 3.38).

The movie jumps to the first point in time after the current location where the text is located. The string you typed is highlighted if the text track is visible (Figure 3.39). If the specified text is not found in the text track, you’ll hear an alert sound, regardless of whether the text track is visible.
