Lesson 7. Combining 2D Elements in a Composite

Lesson 7. Combining 2D Elements in a Composite

Up to this point, you've worked on individual elements—most of them abstract, geometric images. Now, you start bringing your work together. This lesson sets up the first “scene” of your final project, with the flat sheets of hexagons, stars, circles, and other two-dimensional elements working together to create an upbeat, integrated sequence.

In this lesson you'll learn to do the following:

  • Import movies that you rendered earlier and use them as layers of a composition

  • Change opacity by dragging points in the Opacity Values graph

  • Rearrange layers in the stack

  • Apply Color Dodge and Soft Light transfer modes

  • Trim layer In points and Out points

  • Apply the Tint effect to colorize layers

  • Copy and paste effects from layer to layer

  • Apply the Channel Blur effect

  • Apply the Gaussian Blur effect

  • Rearrange the order in which effects are processed

You'll begin combining your previously rendered elements in a two-dimensional environment. You'll set the proper timings for the elements and add effects to refine them so that they are ready for placement in the final project.

This lesson takes about an hour to complete, not including the time required to render the elements.
