The Editing Process

Editing involves a lot more than simply cutting film. An experienced editor knows how to work in creative collaboration with the director, the producer, and even the writer. And he understands that most editing decisions are based on the special nature and design of every film or video project. Part of the craft of editing is treating each project uniquely, shaping it to find how the material can best be communicated.

What Kind of Film Are You Making?

Often it's the big questions that never get asked, and the biggest question of all is: What the heck are you trying to do, anyway? People make films for all sorts of reasons, but for the most part they can be sorted into four main categories: films that inform, educate, persuade, and entertain.
