Chapter 8. Transitions > Using Virtual Clips

Using Virtual Clips

A virtual clip is a clip that refers to a range of clips in the timeline. Although the virtual clip is created from multiple clips, transitions, and effects in multiple tracks, it is represented as a single clip. You can edit, reuse, and apply effects to a virtual clip as you would to any other clip.

By allowing you to represent complex sequences as a single clip, virtual clips can benefit you in several ways. You can repeat complex sequences easily, for example, and apply different settings to each instance. Or you can update all the instances of the virtual clip at the same time by adjusting the sequence to which it refers.
