The Fade Control

You can reveal the opacity control for the clips in a superimpose track by expanding the track and selecting the fade switch (see Chapter 5). This reveals a red fade line, or rubber band control. The video fade line controls the opacity of a clip much the same way that the audio fade line controls the audio gain levels. Adding and adjusting control handles to the video fade line sets the opacity levels of the clip's image, allowing you to blend it with the clips in lower tracks. You can even use most of the same tools and techniques that you use with the audio fade line. The fade adjustment, scissors, and cross-fade tools, for example, all work with the video fade line.

Before you use the video fade controls, arrange clips in the timeline so that they overlap and expand the superimpose tracks.
