Chapter 2. Starting a Project > Selecting Custom Project Settings

Selecting Custom Project Settings

This chapter deals with the settings that determine how Premiere processes clips while you edit. Other settings control the attributes of captured clips (see Chapter 16) and the final rendered movie (see Chapter 15). In other words, the project settings do not affect the qualities of the source clips or an exported movie file.

You specify project settings in the Project Settings dialog box (Macintosh) or New Project Settings dialog box (Windows). (For the sake of brevity, I'll just refer to this as the Project Settings dialog box in the following pages.) You can set Premiere to open this dialog box when you launch the program, or you can access it from the Load Project Settings dialog box.
