Chapter 2. Starting a Project > Specifying Project Settings

Specifying Project Settings

Project settings determine how Premiere processes the audio and video as you edit your program. You can choose built-in preset settings, which are optimized for several common scenarios, such as editing video in the DV format, or you can create custom settings to fit your particular needs.

Generally, you want to use project settings that allow you to edit and view your work quickly and easily, and to prevent undue processing time. Your choices are based partly on your source material and partly on your computer's ability to process and play back video and audio.
