Chapter 2. Starting a Project > Selecting an Initial Workspace

Selecting an Initial Workspace

When you launch Premiere for the first time, the first thing you see after the splash screen is the Initial Workspace dialog box (Figure 2.2). This screen prompts you to choose between A/B Editing and Single-Track Editing. If you're not already familiar with these terms, you may find the text in the dialog box less than illuminating. The message that does come across is that new users should choose A/B editing, and more experienced editors should use single-track editing. Though this advice serves as an adequate rule of thumb, more information will help you make an informed choice. Read on.

Figure 2.2. The first time you launch Premiere, you must choose an initial workspace, according to the style of editing you prefer.
