Chapter 4. Editing Source Clips > Setting Edit Marks

Setting Edit Marks

Setting edit marks designates the important frames of your clips, as well as those of the program. The following sections focus on setting marks for source clips. In the chapters to follow, you'll apply to the program what you learn here about setting marks.

The most important marks include the in point and out point, which define the portion of a clip that you want to include in the program. You can also set clip markers, which specify other frames of interest.

In Premiere 6, the Monitor window includes a marker button, in addition to the mark in and mark out buttons. The marker-button menu allows you to set, go to, and clear any kind of edit mark. The following tasks emphasize using the controls in the Monitor window to set edit marks.
