Chapter 6. Editing in the Timeline > Moving Clips in the Timeline

Moving Clips in the Timeline

You can manipulate clips directly in the timeline to shift and rearrange them. You can move individual clips, multiple clips, or entire tracks.

To move a clip in the timeline:

  • Drag selected clips to an unused part of the timeline.

When synch mode is on, both portions of linked clips move together (Figure 6.57); when synch mode is off, the video and audio portions of linked clips move independently (Figure 6.58).

Figure 6.57. You can drag a clip to any available area of the timeline or between clips. When synch mode is on, the audio and video portions of a clip move together.

Figure 6.58. When synch mode is off, you can move the video and audio parts of a linked clip separately. In this figure, the video has been moved to the Video 1B track without moving its associated audio.
