Chapter 6. Editing in the Timeline > Locking and Unlocking Clips

Locking and Unlocking Clips

Locking a clip protects it from any unin ten tional changes. You can't move or modify locked clips. Locked clips appear in the timeline with a hatch pattern of slashes over them. Notice that slashes on a locked clip slope down to the left. Although you can't alter locked clips, you can monitor them, and they're still included when you preview or export the program.

To lock and unlock a clip:

1.
Select one or more clips in the timeline.

2.
Choose Clip > Lock Clip on Timeline (Figure 6.52).

Figure 6.52. Select one or more clips in the timeline, and choose Clip > Lock Clip on Timeline.

A check indicates that the clip is locked. No check indicates that the clip is unlocked. Locked clips appear in the timeline with a hatch pattern of slashes (Figure 6.53).

Figure 6.53. Checking the option locks the selected clips, which appear with a pattern of slashes (that slope down to the left).
