Chapter 12. Creating Titles > Rolls and Crawls

Rolls and Crawls

In a title roll, text appears to move from beyond the bottom of the screen to beyond the top of the screen. Title rolls are frequently used in a final credit sequence or to present lengthy text on-screen.

A title crawl moves across the screen horizontally, typically from right to left. A news bulletin is a classic example of a title crawl. Sometimes, very large crawling type is used for a dramatic opening title (remember " Rocky "?).
