Kerning

Kerning is a typesetting term that describes the adjustment of space between two letters. The title window's kerning buttons allow you to adjust the spaces between two letters or a range of letters.

To adjust kerning:

1.
Do either of the following:

  • Select a range of characters in the text.

    or

  • Position the insertion point between characters in a text object.

Kerning buttons appear below the Draft checkbox (Figure 12.67).

2.
Do either of the following:

  • Click the decrease kerning button to move letters closer together (Figure 12.68).

    or

  • Click the increase kerning button to move letters farther apart (Figure 12.69).

3.
Click an empty area of the title window to exit text-editing mode.
