Stretching Text

The following section, "Font, Style, and Size," explains how to use common menu commands to change the size of text by discrete point size increments. You can also resize text by dragging. Stretching permits you to resize the horizontal and vertical aspects of the text by different amounts, but you won't be able to reverse or flip text.

To stretch type:

1.
Select a text object.

Four corner handles appear, representing the bounding box for the text (Figure 12.50).

-drag (Mac) or -drag (Windows) any of the handles to stretch the vertical and horizontal scale of the text object.

The cursor becomes the stretch tool as you drag (Figure 12.51). When you release the mouse button, the text appears with different horizontal and vertical scaling (Figure 12.52).
