Chapter 15. Creating Output > Choosing Export Options and Settings

Choosing Export Options and Settings

You can export footage from the timeline or from an individual clip. When you export from the timeline, you can export the entire program, or just the area below the work area bar. Similarly, you can export an entire clip or just the area between its in and out points. Because the two procedures are essentially the same, the following sections focus on exporting from the timeline.

The settings that determine the characteristics of the footage you export depend on the export option you choose. When you print to video or export to tape, playback is based on the settings from the source clip or project settings. When you export a movie file, you select settings in the Export Movie dialog box. When you use a plug-in export option—such as Media Cleaner or Real Media— you choose settings in dialog boxes unique to the plug-in.
