Chapter 16. Capturing Video > Choosing Capture Settings

Choosing Capture Settings

Before you capture, you must specify the characteristics of the digitized clips, such as the file format, frame size, frame rate, and so on. The process is much the same as selecting project settings, which you learned about in Chapter 2.

In fact, when capturing from DV, you can use one of the DV project presets to set your capture settings. (If you already have a DV project open, you don't have to do anything more.) If you're using a capture card, you'll probably have to choose the video and audio settings manually, according to the particular card and type of editing you're doing. Either way, your capture settings and project settings usually match.
