Lesson 6. Additional Editing Techniques > Using the Toggle Shift Tracks Options

Using the Toggle Shift Tracks Options

Premiere 6.0 allows you to control the manner in which clips are shifted along the Timeline, regardless of the Sync mode setting. It is useful to remember that Sync mode specifies which portion of a clip is edited, and the On Insert options specify which clips are shifted in response to an edit. The Toggle Shift Tracks Options button, located along the bottom of the Timeline window, allows you to specify whether a specific edit, such as a ripple edit, a rolling edit, or an insert shifts clips on all tracks or just the clips on the edited track. Click the Toggle Shift Tracks Options button () at the bottom of the Timeline window to alternate between these two options.
