Running a Motion Math Script

Though the specific requirements of different scripts can vary, the overall process is the same for all of them. Because many motion math scripts use the property keyframes of one layer to calculate keyframes for another layer, you may need to set the keyframes for one layer before you run the script.

To run a motion math script:

1.
Set the work area over the frames for which you want Motion Math to create keyframes.

Select a layer (Figure 15.77).

Depending on the script you run, this layer may serve as the target or source for the keyframes.

Choose Layer > Keyframe Assistant > Motion Math (Figure 15.78).

By default, the Copy Values script appears in the script editor the first time you use it. Thereafter, the most recently used script appears in the Motion Math window.

To load a script, click the Load button (Figure 15.79).

An Open dialog box appears.

In the Open dialog box, select a motion math script and click Open (Figure 15.80).

The script you selected appears in the script editor section of the Motion Math dialog box (Figure 15.81).

In the script editor section of the Motion Math dialog box, a description and pull-down menu diagram can help guide your choices.

6.
In the Motion Math dialog box, select options from the Layer, Property and Channel menus, according to the script you selected.

If you want to, modify variables in the script, such as Scale Factor.

Choose one of the following options:

To replace all keyframes in the work area with keyframes generated by the script, choose Sample At and enter a frame rate (Figure 15.82).

To change values of existing keyframes in the work area (without generating additional ones) choose Sample Only At Existing Keyframes.

9.
Click Apply to run the script.

The script generates keyframes auto matically (Figure 15.83).
