Chapter 15. Production Bundle Techniques

Chapter 15. Production Bundle Techniques

As you know, After Effects is available in the standard version and a deluxe version known as the Production Bundle. The Production Bundle includes all the features of the standard version, and it looks and works exactly the same way. But the Production Bundle includes a range of advanced features and effects that are geared toward the professional user. These tools include a set of superior keying effects which can be used to make convincing composites, particularly with bluescreen footage, as well as more sophisticated tools for controlling motion and automating the creation of keyframes. In addition, the Production Bundle offers a variety of other advanced audio and visual effects. If you use After Effects professionally, you won't hesitate to invest in the Production Bundle and its advanced tool set. Like a lot of high-end packages, the Production Bundle uses a hardware key (also called a dongle) that unlocks the advanced features. On the Windows machine, the key plugs into your parallel port; on a Mac, the key plugs into an ADB port. You can also get a USB key.

This chapter doesn't attempt to cover every production feature. It does provide an overview of the Production Bundle's keying, effects, and motion controls, and highlights some prime examples.
