Using the Time Controls

Though the Footage, Layer, Composition, and Time Layout windows have their own playback controls, the Time Controls palette sets the current frame in any selected window. When windows are related, the current time changes in those windows. For example, changing the current frame in a Layer window also changes the current time in its related Time Layout and Composition windows.

You don't need experience with nonlinear editing software to recognize most of the buttons in the Time Controls palette (Figure 8.3), but there are a few you might not find on a home VCR.
