Mask Modes

When you add multiple masks to the same layer, you can set how the masks interact by selecting a mask mode. Although modes don't create compound paths, as do the Boolean functions in Illustrator, they can achieve similar effects in the composition.

In the following examples, the upper mask is set to the default mode, None. See how changing the mode of the lower mask changes how it interacts with the one above it? Both masks are set to 75% opacity, so you can see the difference between the add, lighten, and darken modes.
